LDF Convenor EP Jayarajan
During a meeting of the state committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist)- CPI(M), P Jayarajan, leveled serious allegations of corruption against E P Jayarajan, who is the convenor of the Left Democratic Front (LDF).
He alleged that EP Jayarajan had illegally acquired 11 acres of land to build an Ayurveda resort named Vaidekam in Morazha, near Kannur. His son, PK Jaison and wife, PK Indira, are directors in the company that owns the resort.
Earlier Swapna Suresh, a prime accused in the gold smuggling scam had said that EP Jayarajan’s son PK Jaison, had discussed importing equipment for the state police like cameras, through his benami company in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
She also said that Jaison owns an oil refinery in Ras-Al-Khaimah, one of the seven emirates in the UAE.
In view of the allegations, there have been calls for EP Jayarajan to step down. CPI(M) state secretary MV Govindan said that a committee would be constituted to probe the allegations, if P Jayarajan gives a written complaint.
Interestingly, both P Jayarajan and EP Jayarajan are leaders from Kannur and had met each other few hours before the allegations were levelled.
EP Jayarajan who has been staying away from party programmes of late, due to health reasons, has denied any wrongdoing.
