Madhya Pradesh Records Lower Turnout Than Last Time: 71.16 Per Cent Voting Till 5 PM

Madhya Pradesh reported a voter turnout of 71.16 per cent in the assembly elections held on Friday (17 November). On the same day, Chhattisgarh reported a 68.15 per cent turnout as of 5 pm in phase 2 of the elections.

Notably, in the 2018 elections, Madhya Pradesh reported a turnout of 75.05 per cent when it voted the Congress to power. Generally, it is considered that when a higher turnout is recorded, the government gets changed.

On the other hand, voter turnout in phase 1 was higher in Chhattisgarh when the 20 seats of Naxal-affected area reported a turnout of 71.11 per cent. Elections were held on remaining 70 seats in the second phase.
