Manish Sisodia To Stay In Jail Till 10 January While Another Accused Got Bail In Delhi Liquor Policy Case

Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on Monday (11 December) extended judicial custody of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia in the liquor excise policy case until 10 January 2024. Delhi's former Deputy Chief Minister is currently in jail.
According to Jagran, he court granted permission to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to submit additional documents, and the case has been scheduled for a hearing on 10 January 2024.
It is noteworthy that earlier on 21 November, the court had extended Manish Sisodia's judicial custody until 11 December. While hearing the case in detail, Special Judge MK Nagpal had mentioned that there are still several documents to be submitted by the ED for the accused individuals.
Expressing dissatisfaction, the court stated that compliance with Section 207 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) should be expedited so that the trial of the case can commence soon.
Notably, the Supreme Court on Friday granted bail to Benoy Babu, another accused in the Delhi liquor policy case and an official associated with the liquor giant Pernod Ricard.
Benoy was arrested by the ED in November last year. In February 2023, Sisodia was arrested by the CBI for alleged irregularities in the formulation and implementation of the excise policy.
Subsequently, the ED arrested him on 9 March from Delhi's Tihar Jail. According to the CBI, Sisodia played a crucial role in the criminal conspiracy.
