Contrary to allegations by farm bill protesters that a convoy belonging to a Bharatiya Janata Party minister fired bullets at them, doctors who have conducted post-mortem of eight casualties in the Lakhimpur violence say no bullet injuries were found on their bodies, as per various reports.

Hindustan Times has quoted S N Sadat, officiating additional director general of police (Lucknow Zone), as saying that no bullet injuries have been found on any of the bodies.

Sadat told the newspaper that family of one of the four farmers allegedly run over by a convoy vehicle is not satisfied by the autopsy report and a re-examination was in progress.

In a fresh report, The Hindu has quoted family members of the deceased protester as saying that the second post-mortem also has not revealed any bullet injury.

Eight people who died in the Sunday violence include four farm bill protesters who were allegedly run over by a vehicle belonging to Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Kumar Mishra Teni, and three BJP workers who were allegedly pulled out of the cars and lynched by protesters.

A journalist named Raman Kashyap was also killed in the violence, but it’s not clear yet whether he was run over by the vehicle or lynched by the crowd.

The convoy was on its way to welcome UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya who was scheduled to attend a separate event in Lakhimpur Kheri.

Protesters have said that one of the cars in the convoy deliberately hit the protesters. They allege that the person driving the vehicle was Mishra’s son Ashish. On complaint of a protester named Jagjit Singh, Ashish, along with 20 others, has been booked for murder. There protesters have been separately booked for murder of BJP workers.
