Demolition in Nuh

Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia has taken suo moto cognizance of the ongoing demolition drive in Nuh and has issued a notice to the government seeking details of the drive and future action plans.

Mohammad Arshad, Advocate, Ex-Executive Member of Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association, stated that the demolition has been stayed until further orders.

Deputy Commissioner of Nuh, Dhirender Khargata, mentioned that the demolition drive was immediately halted in Haryana's Nuh in compliance with the order from the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Haryana authorities carried out the demolition of several illegal structures, including a hotel, in violence-hit Nuh, where stones were allegedly thrown at a religious procession during last week's clashes.

A total of 162 permanent and 591 temporary structures have been demolished in the district so far. Different teams, supported by paramilitary forces and police, also removed alleged encroachments in Punhana, Pinganwa, Nagina, Tauru, and Ferozpur Jhirka.

Till Saturday, 147 individuals were arrested, and a total of 56 FIRs were registered. Eight of the arrested individuals are residents of Bharatpur and Alwar districts in Rajasthan.

A 50-member team from Gurugram police searched the Nalhad hill on Sunday, where hooligans had allegedly opened fire on devotees.

The communal clashes in Nuh resulted in the death of six people, including two home guards and a cleric. The clashes started after the Vishva Hindu Parishad procession was attacked by mobs on last Monday.
