Leaders who joined BJP in Rajasthan on 1 November 2023
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its fourth list of candidates for the Rajasthan assembly elections scheduled for 25 November with two names, taking the total count of declared candidates to 184.
Ram Niwas Meena, who joined the BJP just a day earlier, has been given a ticket from Todabhim, a seat reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST) in Gangapur City district.
Another ticket was given to Swaroop Singh Khara from Sheo in Barmer district. Both these seats currently have Congress MLAs.
Notably, in the third list, the BJP had given tickets to leaders who joined the party just a day ago. These are Darshan Singh Gurjar, Subhash Meel and Uday Lal Dangi.
Gurjar is a former Karauli MLA, who won in 2013 but lost in 2018 and hence was denied a ticket by Congress this time. A day after joining the BJP, he got a ticket from Karauli.
Similarly, Subhash Meel contested from Khandela on a Congress ticket in 2018 but came third as an Independent candidate won from there. He has now got a BJP ticket from Khandela.
Dangi contested on a BJP ticket from Vallabhnagar in 2018 but lost. He then joined Hanuman Beniwal's Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) and contested the 2021 by-polls on its ticket but lost again. After coming back to the BJP, Dangi has got a ticket from Vallabhnagar again.
