OPS and EPS
A single-judge bench of the Madras High Court has rejected the interim applications filed by the O Panneerselvam (OPS) camp against the resolutions passed by the Edappadi Palaniswami (EPS) camp in the General Council meeting of July 2022 and the recently announced elections to the post of General Secretary.
The High Court had earlier directed that the elections could be held but the result should be withheld till it delivers its verdict.
As soon as the verdict was out, the party's election officials Pollachi V Jayaraman and Natham R Viswanathan formally announced EPS as the new general secretary of the party.
In the General Council meeting of July 2022, OPS and leaders close to him like Panruti Ramachandran, JCD Prabhakar, R Vaithilingam and Paul Manoj Pandian were expelled from the party and changes were made to the party by-laws.
The position of Coordinator and Joint Coordinator held by OPS and EPS respectively, ceased to exist and EPS was appointed as the Interim General Secretary of the party.
The OPS camp has filed an appeal against the order and it will be taken up by the Division Bench of the High Court.
