Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) today (21 August) announced the Bharat Rashtra Samiti's (BRS) candidate list for the Assembly elections to be held later this year.

Candidates have been named for 115 of the 119 constituencies in the state. Seven of the seats will see new candidates.

KCR will contest from two constituencies, i.e., Gajwel and Kamareddy.

He also announced that the party's manifesto will be released on 16 October in Warangal.

Sounding confident of victory, he said that the BRS would win 95-105 seats.

Reacting to the announcement of the list of candidates, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Nizamabad, Arvind Dharmapuri said that KCR's decision to contest from two seats is due to fear.

"If KCR who has been the Chief Minister of the state for nearly 10 years is afraid and contesting from two seats, then imagine the condition of other MLAs. KCR's decision to contest from Kamareddy (formerly in the Nizamabad district) shows that he does not have faith in the people of Gajwel. This is due to his misrule.

"He is afraid that Eatala Rajender might contest against him from Gajwel.

"I have seen the list of candidates in the Nizamabad parliamentary constituency. Except for one constituency in which the father has been replaced by the son, there is no change. Seeing the list has given me full confidence that BJP will get a clean sweep in Nizamabad."
