TN: Raj Bhavan Cancels ‘At Home Reception’ On Independence Day As Lawns Flooded Due To Heavy Rains; CM MK Stalin Had Announced Boycott

In a press release, the Raj Bhavan announced that the ‘At Home Reception’, to be hosted by Governor RN Ravi on Independence Day would be postponed due to flooding of the main lawns and forecast of heavy rain.

It stated, “Due to incessant heavy rains in and around Guindy area, the Main Lawns in Raj Bhavan is flooded with water. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that thunderstorms and rains will continue tomorrow (15.8.2023) also.

In view of heavy rains and to avoid any inconvenience to the guests, Raj Bhavan decided to postpone the "At Home Reception". However, the "At Home Reception" will be hosted soon and the date will be communicated in due course.”

Earlier, Chief Minister MK Stalin had announced a boycott of the event due to Governor Ravi’s recent remarks stating that if it were up to him, he would not grant assent to the Bill exempting the state from NEET.
