Troubles Mount For Mahua Moitra: After Expulsion From Lok Sabha, Housing Committee Suggests Vacating Official Bungalow

Following the expulsion of Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra from the Lok Sabha due to allegations of cash-for-query, the Parliament's Housing Committee has written to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to order the TMC leader to leave her official bungalow.
Moitra was removed from the Lok Sabha on 8 December following the acceptance of an Ethics Committee report by the House. The report found her guilty of receiving gifts and illicit rewards from a businessman in exchange for posing questions in parliament.
The investigation by the Ethics Committee, sparked by a complaint from BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, determined that Moitra was culpable for "unethical conduct" and disrespect of the House by disseminating her Lok Sabha website login details to individuals without authoris
.ation. The committee highlighted that such actions could have an indelible effect on national security.
Dubey alleged that Moitra was targeting the Adani Group and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha by posing questions, claiming that she was doing so under the influence of businessman Darshan Hiranandani, in return for presents.
The resolution expressed that the behavior of the Trinamool MP has been deemed inappropriate for a parliament member, as she accepted gifts and illicit rewards from a businessman to advance his interests. This action is considered a grave misbehavior and is highly reprehensible on her part.
On Monday, Mahua Moitra took her case to the Supreme Court, arguing that her expulsion from the Lok Sabha was "illegal".
Following her outburst, the 49-year-old leader compared the incident to a "kangaroo court" execution while addressing the press. She further claimed that the government was manipulating a parliamentary committee to subdue the opposition.
