"Would Want Them To Face Legal System": MEA On Pakistan-Based Terrorists Being Killed By 'Unknown Gunmen'

Arindam Bagchi, the spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, responded to recent threats from terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, stating on Thursday (7 December) that Indian authorities had informed Canadian and US authorities about the matter, Hindustan Times reported.
Regarding the killings of Pakistan-based terrorists, Bagchi emphasised India's desire for individuals wanted in the country to face the legal system. "We would like those wanted in India for criminal and terrorist activities to come and face our legal system. However, I cannot comment on developments in Pakistan," he added.
Pannun, based in the US, allegedly threatened to attack India's Parliament. Bagchi affirmed that the government takes such threats seriously, expressing concern about extremists seeking media coverage.
He said that India has communicated with US and Canadian authorities, addressing Pannun's wanted status and potential threats against India or Indian diplomats.
On the Afghan Embassy issue, Bagchi clarified that the Afghan Embassy in New Delhi and consulates in Mumbai and Hyderabad are operational. He affirmed that their position on these entities has not changed, and Afghan diplomats will continue serving Afghan nationals.
The MEA's comments come amidst reports that the US informed India about a plot to kill Pannun. Earlier this week, unidentified assailants killed LeT commander Adnan Ahmed in Karachi, despite ISI-provided security.
