After a distressing video, in which a schoolgirl tragically lost her life in an accident after facing street molestation in Uttar Pradesh, went viral, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued a warning to such offenders.

On Sunday (17 September), during an event in Gorakhpur, Adityanath said, "If anyone molests a daughter on the streets and attacks her modesty, then Yamaraj will be waiting for that pervert at the next turn."

Following the inauguration and foundation stone laying for several projects at the Manasarovar Ramleela Ground where a development gift of Rs 343 crore was announced, CM Yogi said that nobody should try to escape the law.

"Those who want to become a barrier in the development process will be brought to light... Nobody can stop me from sending sexual offenders to Yamaraj," he further said calling people to follow rules and regulations.

The said incident occurred around 3.30 pm on 15 September in Hanswar region of Ambedkar Nagar district. The young girl was knocked off her bicycle after two men on a motorcycle seemingly snatched her dupatta. Almost immediately after, another motorcyclist fatally ran over her.

The assailants belong to the predominant Muslim community in the area, while the victim was from the Kurmi caste, a backward Hindu group. Swati Goel Sharma reports on the issue in detail, read here.
