The contest in Saran, Bihar, has intensified as Rohini Acharya, Lalu Yadav’s daughter, is rumoured to be contesting from the Lok Sabha constituency.
Winning this seat is crucial for RJD, as Saran has been a stronghold in the past. The incumbent MP, Rajiv Pratap Rudy of BJP, is expected to be a strong contender and his victory in 2024 would be crucial for reestablishing his credibility, as he has faced challenges within his party.
However, four out of six assembly constituencies in Saran have recently gone to RJD, indicating a potential shift in the political landscape. Both the NDA and the INDI alliance have yet to announce their candidates, setting the stage for a potentially significant electoral battle in Saran.
