2. π£ Suicide attack in Balochistan
A suicide bomber attacked a patrolling police truck carrying security personnel in Quetta, Balochistan.
This has killed at least two policemen and injured 23 of them.
The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) group claimed responsibility for the attack which came just two days after the group announced to call off its ceasefire.
Security situation in Pakistan: TTP accused the Pakistani state of not adhering to the ceasefire and pointed towards the various security operations by Pakistani security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The new army chief General Asim Munir took charge just yesterday and the attack comes today.
The powerful Army, which has ruled Pakistan for more than half of its 75-plus years of existence, has hitherto wielded considerable power in matters of security and foreign policy.
3. π New biography of JC Bose
Remembering Bose: Today (30 November) is Jagadish Chandra Bose's birth anniversary.
He is known for breaking the barrier between physics and physiology and between the animate and the inanimate through empirical demonstrations.
He showed that science could be pursued by an Indian mind in a refreshing approach and thus broke the barriers of the prejudice of colonialism as well.
Unsung Genius is a recently released book on Bose's life and is written by Kunal Ghosh.
It is perhaps the most comprehensive biography of Bose which brings out the man, his science, his philosophy, his times and the extraordinary team of people who worked with him.
Aravindan Neelakandan calls it a must-read for every Indian and for every student of science.
4. πΈ Rahul Gandhi's temple visits
Rahul Gandhi performed puja with rituals at the famous Mahakal temple of Lord Shiva in Ujjain yesterday.
'Bharat Jodo Yatra' under his leadership has reached Madhya Pradesh where it was joined by prominent Congress leaders of the state.
Today was a rest day and the yatra will again take off from Ujjain tomorrow.
The mockery: Other political parties, especially the BJP leaders mocked Rahul Gandhi over his temple visits.
BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malaviya said, "It is good to see a Catholic mother and Parsi fatherβs son putting up this pretense to prove his Hindu lineage."
Most BJP supporters pointed out that it is due to the Hindu assertiveness created under the Modi regime that is forcing Gandhi for such photo-ops.
5. π New archaeological findings in Swat
The findings: International archaeologists claimed to have found an ancient pottery kiln and ruins of a stupa at the ancient Bazira city in Swat, Pakistan.
The findings are important for Buddhist history and also to acknowledge the technological advancement of that time.
The pottery kiln is estimated to be from the period between the mid-first century BCE to the beginning of the first century AD, while stupa is estimated to belong from Huna period.
Swat is located in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.
An archaeologist who was part of the excavation said that Swat is like a paradise for archaeologists, especially for those who studied Buddhist or Gandharan art and archaeology.
Italian Archeological Mission has been working for a long time in Swat in collaboration with Pakistan's department of archaeology.
