  • 2. 🛸 India Aces Drone Manufacturing

    ideaForge shared the achievement

    ideaForge is one of India’s largest drone makers and was selected by the Ministry of Civil Aviation under the PLI scheme.

    • It is known for its UAVs for defence and industrial applications and has now bagged the seventh position in the dual-use (civil and military) drone category of Drone Industry Insights.

  • Last year, it bagged a $20 million order from the Indian Army for its ‘SWITCH’ drone and has got more such orders this year.

  • The journey: It was founded in 2007 by IIT Bombay alumni — Ankit Mehta, Ashish Bhat, Rahul Singh, Vipul Joshi, and Amardeep Singh.

    • In 2016, Infosys had invested $1.5 million in the ideaForge’s Series A round. The $10 million Series A round was led by WRV Capital and IndusAge Partners.

  • This year it closed its Series B funding round of $20 Million led by Florintree.

  • With over 15 years of R&D history, it owns more than 20 global patents.

  • Its customers include the Adani group, L&T, Indian Oil, Survey of India and Indian Railways, among others.

  • 3. 🛣️ Delhi-Mumbai Expressway Update

    The recent update: PM Narendra Modi is soon likely to inaugurate the Sohna (near Gurugram)-Dausa stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.

    • All the nine packages totalling 293 kms between Sohna (Haryana) and Dausa (Rajasthan) are complete and the stretch is ready to opened officially for commuters.

  • Nitin Gadkari shared an update (with the above image) yesterday that the section between the Khanpur Ghati and Haryana/Rajasthan border is currently being constructed with a layout of the access-controlled 8-lane carriageway.

  • He also said that it includes multiple structures such as interchanges, minor bridges, SVUPs, LVUPs, and culverts, etc. for furnishing connectivity to various villages and cities around the section, mostly passing through the district Nuh.

  • The project: Delhi-Mumbai expressway will be India’s longest expressway with nearly 1,350 km of length.

    • It will reduce travel time between Delhi and Mumbai from 24 hours to 12 hours and distance by 280 kms.

  • It will also facilitate a smooth connection to various cities such as Alwar, Dausa, Sawai Madhopur, Kota, Ratlam, Vadodara, etc.

  • It is being built at an estimated cost of Rs 1,03,000 crore.

    5. ⚔️ On This Day: Battle Of Nagi


    The lesser known Battle of Nagi was fought on 27-28 December 1971 defending the Sand Dunes in Sri Ganganagar district of Rajasthan.

    • 10 days after the formal ceasefire, Pakistan took a provocative recourse and its troops occupied a high Sand Dune in the village Nagi as a prelude to coming further into Indian territories.

  • The Indian soldiers forced Pakistan to retreat leaving behind a huge quantity of arms and ammunition and the Indian Flag was hoisted on the Nagi Sand Dune on 28 December 1971 at 0600 hrs.

  • The Indian braves of 4 PARA and 9 PARA FD Regiments fought battle for a km of Indian territory against all odds.

    • They took a lot of casualties initially but managed to regain control of the area under command of the Company Commander, Major VK Berry.

  • 21 Paratroopers made the supreme sacrifice and since then, this day is commemorated as Nagi Day.
