Everything including politics in Brajabhoomi-Mathura revolves around Lord Krishna and Krishna Janmabhoomi.
Even references to Modi, Yogi, and development are appended to the Lord Mohan's wishes.
This is reflected in statements like:
"Ayodhya mein Ram Mandir Modi ne banvaya kyonki Thakurji chahte thhe" (Krishna wanted Modi to build the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya).
"Modi aur Yogi kanahiya ke kehne par chalte hain" (Modi and Yogi follow the path of Krishna).
"Modi ka kiya sara vikas bansiwaale ko hee samarpit hai" (all of Modi’s work towards development is dedicated to Krishna).
Hema Malini's Likely Victory
BJP's Hema Malini is anticipating her third consecutive win from Mathura.
BJP's campaign focuses on Modi's welfare schemes, Ram Mandir, and Dreamgirl's personal attention to cultural facets of Mathura.
“There is no reason for ‘narazgi’. Dharma ka kaam ek dum badhiya chal raha hai. MLA se lekar Modi ji sab dharmik hain. Betiyon ko suraksha hai. Desh ka maan hai,” say farmers.
Mathura seems unique in that caste-based biases related to the candidates seem absent — influential leaders belonging to different castes support Malini.
In this BJP's stronghold, Congress' Mukesh Dhangar is unlikely to pose a challenge.
Mixed Feelings Over Malini
There are pockets of complaints towards Hema Malini's candidacy.
“She is not from Mathura. She doesn’t even know how many temples there are in Brindavan... She manages to win because of Modi ji,” says a young BJP worker.
Cleanliness, employment, and neglected areas like Gokul call for more localized engagement from her.

Will Tashi Gyalson, BJP's New Candidate From Ladakh, Help Break Party's Deadlock With Locals?
Tashi Gyalson, the Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of the Ladakh Hill Development Council (Leh), is BJP's candidate from Ladakh.
He fought assembly elections twice in the former J&K state on PDP's ticket, but lost.
A student leader and lawyer by training, he joined the BJP in 2019 before Ladakh became a Union territory.
Earlier in 1995-96, he had joined the Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM).
In 2020, contested the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) elections to become the Chairman and CEC from Leh.
Replacement & Key Agenda
The decision to replace the sitting MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal with Gyalson came after he became unpopular among Ladakhis for "not standing up for the region".
Now, Gyalson aims to resume talks between Ladakhis and the central government and instill confidence in the BJP's ability to provide favorable solutions for Ladakh's interests.
"Things are not achieved overnight," says Gyalson, "for any solution, a dialogue is required. The pros and cons of all demands and suggestions have to be discussed."
Addressing Discontent, Communicating PM Modi's Vision
There is a prevailing sentiment in Ladakh that the BJP-led government has not fulfilled promises made in its manifesto like Ladakh's inclusion in the Sixth Schedule.
Ladakhis expect better administration, representation, and development under UT status, but discontentment has risen due to breakdowns in negotiations.
Gyalson emphasizes that Ladakhis are in a position to demand more and dream because they are a UT and not just any district in a state.
He communicates PM Modi's vision for Ladakh as a model Union Territory.
Gyalson advocates for a dialogue with BJP leaders to address Ladakh's issues, citing the BJP's role in Ladakh's transition to a UT.
He is very popular as an energetic and sharp young leader among people in Leh and thus a natural choice for BJP.
