Early trends are holding up with the exit poll predictions of a close fight in the Goa assembly elections.
The Congress+ alliance is reported to be leading in about 20 constituencies out of the 40-seat assembly.
The incumbent BJP is ahead in around 15 seats whereas other parties like the TMC, AAP and MGP are leading in rest of the 5 seats.
A majority of 21 seats are needed to secure a clear majority in the coastal state.
“BJP will form govt. We will take several people along with us despite the majority mark. Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) is an independent party. I think ideologically it's natural for MGP and BJP to come together,” Devendra Fadnavis, BJP’s election in-charge for Goa, was quoted by the ANI.
Earlier, Goa CM Pramod Sawant offered prayers at the Shri Datta Mandir in his Sanquelim constituency as the counting of votes began at 8 am.
