After a First Information Report (FIR) was filed against Udhayanidhi Stalin, a leader of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party and the son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin, in Uttar Pradesh a month ago for making objectionable remarks about 'Sanatana Dharma', another FIR has been filed in Maharashtra against him for the same remarks.

DMK MP A Raja has also faced severe criticism for comparing 'Sanatana Dharma' with HIV.

The Mumbai Mira Road police has taken action by registering a case against Udhayanidhi Stalin under sections 153 A and 295 A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

In response to the incident, a delegation from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu has submitted a memorandum to the State police, demanding the registration of an FIR against Udhayanidhi Stalin for his remarks against 'Sanatana Dharma'.

During a conference in Chennai, Udhayanidhi criticised Sanatana Dharma, comparing it to diseases like dengue, malaria, fever, and corona. He went on to say that Sanatana Dharma should not only be opposed but completely eradicated.

In response to the controversy surrounding Udhayanidhi's comments, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting of the Council of Ministers and instructed them to aggressively counter the attack on Sanatana Dharma.

The Prime Minister urged his ministers to counter the Opposition's narrative on Sanatana Dharma with factual information.

Following this, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making comments without being aware of what Udhayanidhi had actually said about Sanatana Dharma.

The Congress, Trinamool Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and Aam Aadmi Party, all part of the Opposition INDIA bloc, have distanced themselves from the statements made by the DMK leader.
