Bihar's Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav Faces ED For Questioning In Land-for-Jobs Case

Tejashwi Yadav, Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister and RJD leader, appeared before the Enforcement Directorate in Delhi on Tuesday for questioning on money laundering related to the railways land-for-jobs case.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had earlier questioned the RJD leader and in March the ED interrogated his sister Misa Bharti regarding corruption and money laundering probes related to the land-for-jobs scam.
The land-for-jobs scam allegedly occurred when their father, Lalu Prasad Yadav, was the union railway minister between 2004 and 2009.
ED found Rs 600 crore proceeds of crime and a Rs 150 crore bungalow in Delhi's New Friends Colony in the land-for-jobs case.
Yadav was questioned by CBI regarding the transfer of land and properties to his family members, according to anonymous sources reported The Hindustan Times. The RJD leader had missed three previous summons last month.
The case being investigated concerns the appointments of substitutes in Central Railways' Group D jobs from 2004 to 2009, which reportedly violated Indian Railways' recruitment rules and procedures.
The candidates or their family members allegedly sold land at lower rates ranging from one-fourth to one-fifth of the market rates to Lalu's family.
CBI's first charge sheet in the case accused Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, Misa Bharti, and 13 others and was filed in October.
ED raided Yadav's Delhi home, Patna, Ranchi and Mumbai, along with 20 other locations, regarding the case.
Lalu Yadav, Rabri Devi, Misa Bharti, and 13 other accused got bail from Delhi Rouse Avenue court on 15 March.
