Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath
During a public rally in Aligarh, ahead of the second phase of urban local body elections, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath claimed that the double engine government had brought an end to riots in the state.
"Aaj Uttar Pradesh danga mukt ho chuka hai... Humne tamancha (hand gun) sanskriti ko band kiya, aur yuvaon ke hanthon mein tablet dene ka karya humari sarkar kar rahi hai (Now Uttar Pradesh has been freed from the riots... We have stopped the street violence culture, and our government is doing the work of providing tablets to the youth," the CM said.
The CM added that the BJP government made the best use of Aligarh taala (locks) by putting them on riots in the state.
"The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) did not even have a plaque of Maharaja Mahendra Pratap Singh, who had given his own land for the construction of the university," CM Adityanath said.
