The Popular Front Of India (PFI) has accused the Karnataka BJP government of ‘blatantly trivialising’ the murder of ‘two innocent Muslim men’ and demanded an impartial investigation into the three killings that have taken place in Dakshina Kannada recently.

The state executive committee of the PFI in a statement said the state government has given excessive attention to the murder of their party worker instead of taking all three murders seriously by giving them equal importance.

In a statement that it posted on its social media page, it accused the state government of blatantly trivialising the ‘Sangh Parivar orchestrated murders of two innocent Muslim men‘.

The statement also said the ‘malicious intent’ of the state government to ‘prey on the innocent youth of the Muslim community’ is evident through its action of accounting that the investigation of Praveen’s murder will be handed over to the NIA due to the sole reason that he was a BJP worker.

The PFI has demanded that the state should ‘abandon its discriminatory attitude’ and facilitate ‘equal and impartial investigations’ into all three cases.

The statement issued says that the PFI’s state executive meeting was conducted in Bengaluru on 2 August 2022 and the following resolutions were taken:

1. Let there be impartial investigations into the serial murder cases on the Coastal Karnataka.

2. Let the media stop targeting the Muslim community.

3. Provide equal compensation to bereaved families of the victims.

It accused the media of ‘actively engaging in smear campaigns’ against the Muslim community and ’people’s organisations’ like the PFI.

It also said the media is ‘emotionally provoking’ the people through outrageous news about the incidents of murder that is being broadcast by a section of media.

In its third resolution, it highlighted that the ‘discriminatory attitude’ of the ruling party where CM Basavaraj Bommai as well as government and people representatives visited only Praveen’s house and not that of Masud's or Fazil’s is a ‘fatal blow to the democratic system.'

It demanded that the state government immediately provide equal compensation to all three ‘affected families’.
