'Cash-For-Query' Row: Lok Sabha Ethics Committee To Decide On Summons To Mahua Moitra On 26 October

The Ethics Committee of Lok Sabha will deliberate on whether to summon TMC MP Mahua Moitra and individuals named in a letter submitted by businessman Darshan Hiranandani, claiming that the TMC leader gave him access to her Parliament login ID and password.
This decision will be made following an examination of the evidence presented by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey and Supreme Court lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai on October 26, the Indian Express has reported.
The committee has requested Dubey and Dehadrai to present oral evidence that supports their claims of Moitra soliciting favors and gifts from Hiranandani in exchange for asking questions in the Lok Sabha.
The controversy surrounding these allegations against Moitra continues, with Dehadrai asserting that he was pressured to withdraw his complaint in exchange for custody of the dog, Henry, which he claims has been illegally held by Moitra.
Dehadrai stated, "An attempt was made yesterday afternoon to coerce me into withdrawing my CBI complaint and letter to Nishikant Dubey in exchange for Henry. I flatly refused – will give details to CBI. Messenger is totally innocent – but tells you everything about her."
Meanwhile, Moitra has continued to criticise the Narendra Modi government and the Ethics Committee.
"I welcome answering questions to CBI and Ethics Committee (which has absolute majority of BJP members) if and when they call me. I have neither time nor interest to feed an Adani-driven media circus trial or answer BJP trolls. I am enjoying Durga Puja in Nadia. Shubho Sashthi," she said on X.
