H D Kumaraswamy, the former chief minister of Karnataka and Janata Dal (Secular) leader, has accused the Congress of treating the Muslim community as a vote bank without any real efforts to improve their living standards.
Speaking at a campaign meeting in Krishnapura, Karnataka, on Sunday (7 May), the leader accused the Congress party of accepting hardcore Hindu leaders and criticising the JD(S) for having links with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
According to Kumaraswamy, the two national parties are manipulating the youth for their political gain.
He claimed the BJP government's creation of a Billawa development corporation before elections is an attempt to secure votes from the community.
He also hoped that people would trust JD(S) again.
