NIA arrests Kerala PFI secretary, CA Rauf
CA Rauf, the Kerala state secretary of the now banned Popular Front of India (PFI) has been arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) from his residence at Pattambi in Kerala.
Rauf was on the run since the ban was imposed on the PFI last month.
The PFI state secretary is believed to be a key organiser of the widespread violence during the hartal called in against the ban on PFI.
While in hiding, he is suspected to have retained control over the activities of the outfit.
His name has also come up in inquiries related to murders committed by PFI workers and it is believed that he arranged for legal assistance to them.
The NIA team has taken Rauf to Kochi for further questioning.
