As Railway minister if Lalu Prasad Yadav had instructed rail engine drivers to stop and go back for certain distance if a cat crosses the tracks, then we would have never had forward movement in India. We do not know whether Lalu believes in a cat crossing your path omen.

But after reading this you will be convinced that he does believe in the cat and other omens. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Thursday attacked Narendra Modi by calling the Prime Minister a bad omen for the country.

Addressing a function to mark 125th anniversary of Dalit icon BR Ambedkar in Patna, Lalu said the country has been suffering from drought and water crisis since the day Modi took oath as the PM.

It is clear that Lalu does go by omen episodes. The former railway minister should know that just like a rail engine runs based on science, the drought and failure monsoon too have scientific explanations. These phenomenons have nothing to do with one person or a party.

Lalu does not stop with Modi. He also sought a probe into assets of “high-profile” gurus and babas.

“Assets of all these ‘hi-fi’ saints should be probed,” Lalu has said.

Describing Baba Ramdev as a “capitalist and industrialist of the country”, he said, “Earlier he used to praise Mulayam Singh Yadav but now he has gone to Narendra Modi and BJP.”

He also castigated Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravishankar for his recent comments that those who do not love the country should go out of it.

“On what basis he assessed that somebody does not love his country?” he asked.

And then making a sweeping generalisation Lalu said “all these saints and babas are making fool of people in the garb of religion.”
