Bharatiya Janata Party's "Modi Story" project is a digital archive featuring personal narratives from individuals who have interacted with him throughout his career, from a humble pracharak to Chief Minister and finally, Prime Minister of India.

Launched in March 2022, this volunteer-driven initiative aims to consolidate not only testimonials but also present the Modi model of leadership and his life in a positive light.

The archive's website indicates that it has gathered around 7,000 to 8,000 such incidents and anecdotes, shedding light on both the personal and political facets of PM Modi.

While several books have been written about the Prime Minister since his rise to national prominence, this initiative serves as a counterbalance to negative perceptions and offers a fact-check on the recounting of events.

Besides the 1991 incident, there are even earlier anecdotes illustrating PM Modi's early recognition of the value of conducting surveys on crucial matters.

For instance, Girish Bhatt, an RSS worker from Rajkot, recalls an incident from the 1970s when PM Modi appointed the baudhik pramukh of an RSS training camp in the city.

He encouraged Bhatt and others to conduct a survey in the camp's neighborhood to gauge perceptions about the organization. The results from these surveys in neighborhood housing colonies were transformed into bar charts and shared, though specific findings from that survey over half a century ago are not readily available.

The Modi Story archive is just one of the strategies employed by the BJP, which has seen remarkable political success under PM Modi's leadership, to carefully control the narrative surrounding him, one anecdote at a time.
