Rahul Gandhi has departed from Lok Sabha after initiating a debate on the No Trust Motion, during which he raised questions about the Manipur crisis.

Prior to Gandhi's departure, Union Minister Smriti Irani accused the opposition of backtracking from the debate on Manipur.

She stated, “They desire a discussion on Manipur. Our ministers consistently assured that the government is prepared for a debate. It is the Opposition that evaded a discussion on Manipur.”

Earlier, Smriti Irani and Rahul Gandhi had exchanged verbal jabs concerning the Manipur crisis.

The BJP MP had strongly criticised Gandhi for his statements about Bharat Mata.

She expressed, “You are not India, for India is not corrupt. India believes in merit, not in dynasty, and today of all the days people like you need to remember what was told to the British – Quit India. Corruption Quit India, Dynasty Quit India. Merit now finds place in India…””

Gandhi had earlier commented, "You have murdered Bharat Mata in Manipur, you are anti-national, murderes of India... if PM Modi doesn't listen to the people of India, to whom does he listen to?"
