Rahul Gandhi, recently disqualified from Lok Sabha, needs a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) to vacate his official bungalow, according to an official.

The Lok Sabha Housing Committee's letter requesting Rahul Gandhi to vacate his residence has also been forwarded to the NDMC, responsible for water and electricity in the Central Public Works Department bungalows.

The official clarified that they handle civic amenities such as water and electricity supply, not property, as reported in PTI.

Rahul Gandhi was advised to obtain an NOC from the NDMC before leaving the bungalow.

Gandhi was instructed to vacate the house at 12 Tughlaq Lane by 22 April, after his disqualification from Lok Sabha last week.

On 23 March, Gandhi was convicted and sentenced to two years in prison in a criminal defamation case by a Gujarat court. As a result, he was disqualified as a Lok Sabha member from the date of the sentence.

Losing Lok Sabha membership means leaving the official bungalow within a month, as per a senior official.

Gandhi can request an extension from the Housing Committee, and their decision will be based on the validity of his reasons.
