Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar Now Clash Over Police Postings, Reports Suggest

A fresh dispute has reportedly arisen between Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy D K Shivakumar regarding the posting and transfers of police officers.

According to a report from India Today, a member of the D K Shivakumar camp has claimed that CM Siddaramaiah failed to take into account the opinions and recommendations of the Member of Parliaments (MPs) and local leaders in the constituencies where the placements were pending.

This member also stated that it is important to involve local MLAs and MPs in discussions about the desired inspectors for their constituencies.

In the constituencies where the Shivakumar's camp lost, it has been reported that ministers from Siddaramaiah's camp appointed inspectors without taking into account the recommendations of local candidates, leaders, or MPs.

The appointment of a police inspector at Jnanabharthi Nagar police station has sparked controversy among Congress MP DK Suresh and defeated Congress candidate Kusuma from Rajarajeshwari Nagar, according to sources.

It appears that the appointment did not meet their expectations or 'align with their interests'. The implications and reasons behind their dissatisfaction are yet to be fully understood.

Allegations have been also made against Siddaramaiah's camp minister, Byrathi Suresh, for appointing a police inspector of his choice without considering the opinions of local party leaders.

DK Suresh has brought up this issue with Randeep Surjewala, the Congress National General Secretary and in-charge for Karnataka.

An appeal before the Congress' high command has held the transfers and the appointments back. Furthermore, a message was relayed to all inspectors through the control room instructing them not to assume their positions.

This development highlights the complexities and dynamics of political relationships and the influence they can have on administrative decisions.

Meanwhile, CM Siddaramaiah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a friendly meeting at Parliament House on Thursday. During their meeting, Siddaramaiah and Modi addressed the issue of pending grants from the central government to the states for various schemes.

The Chief Minister stressed the need for these funds to be released in a timely manner to ensure the smooth implementation of development and welfare programs in Karnataka.

Apart from meeting the PM, Siddaramaiah also had a separate meeting with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. During this meeting, he made a special request to organise an air show during the upcoming Mysore Dussehra celebrations.
