TMC leader Mukul Roy
Senior Trinamool Congress leader Mukul Roy's son, Subhargshu Roy, who is also a TMC leader, has claimed that his father has been missing since late Monday evening and is currently untraceable.
"Till now, I am unable to contact my father. He is untraceable," Subhargshu Roy told PTI.
According to India Today report, Subhargshu said that Mukul departed for Delhi on Monday via Indigo Airlines flight (GE-898) scheduled to arrive at 9:55 pm. Unfortunately, Mukul could not be located upon arrival.
The ex-railway minister Mukul Roy reportedly went missing after a disagreement with his son on Sunday. Following the death of his wife, Mukul Roy has been facing health problems and was hospitalised in February.
"As of now, we know that he was scheduled to land at Delhi Airport at around 9pm. But he is not traceable," a close aide said, reported the news agency.
India Today has reported that while Subhargshu Roy has claimed that his family has filed a complaint with the airport police authorities regarding his missing father, police sources have indicated that no official report has been received thus far.
In 2017, Mukul switched from TMC to BJP due to conflicts with the party leadership. He was appointed as the national vice-president of the BJP.
He won 2021 election for BJP, but switched to TMC after results were declared.
