Family members of the 22-year-old Hindu woman, who died in Balrampur district in Uttar Pradesh after being allegedly raped by two men, have expressed their confidence in the system.

Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish Awasthi and Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar, met with the aggrieved family at their residence in Balrampur recently.

The family members have reportedly said that the visit from the two officials has given them hope that the truth regarding the culprit will emerge.

The victim's maternal grandfather has said that taking the main accused — Shahid — into remand will help in nabbing the other accused.

The family members of the victim have said that her soul will get a tribute when the accused are hanged until death.

This report quotes Awanish Awasthi as saying: "This case will be heard in a fast track court, and if necessary, then the stringent National Security Act (NSA) may be invoked. The points raised by the aggrieved family have been taken seriously. The guilty will not be spared."

The victim's mother told the press that "the rapists broke the legs and back of her daughter" — the charge, as per the report on the NDTV website, has been denied by the police.

The mother has been quoted as saying: "My daughter had gone to take admission in a college on Tuesday. On her way back, three-four persons abducted her, took her to their room, gave her an injection and raped her. They later sent her back on an e-rickshaw and dumped her outside our house. They broke her legs and back. She could not stand or talk."
