Biotech-PRIDE: Guidelines To Provide Framework For Sharing Of Biological Data
The government released the Biotech-PRIDE guidelines on 30 July.
Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh released the Biotech-PRIDE guidelines on Friday (30 July). "PRIDE" is short for 'promotion of research and innovation through data exchange'.
According to the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), these guidelines "aim at providing a well-defined framework and guiding principles to facilitate and enable sharing and exchange of high-throughput, high-volume biological data generated by research groups across the country".
The website of the Indian Biological Data Centre (IBDC) was also launched alongside the Biotech-PRIDE guidelines.
The guidelines will, in fact, be implemented through the IBDC at the DBT-supported Regional Centre for Biotechnology, Faridabad.
They have been introduced in the interest of data sharing in order to further research and innovation in India.
"These guidelines do not deal with generation of biological data per se but is an enabling mechanism to share and exchange information and knowledge generated as per the existing laws, rules, regulations and guidelines of the country," a statement said.
