Naxal Leader Amit Hasnda, With 10 Lakh Bounty, Gunned Down By Security Forces In Jharkhand Encounter

In a major breakthrough amid ongoing anti-Naxal operations, security forces neutralised senior Naxal leader in Jharkhand during an encounter on early Sunday (7 September), India Today reported.
The Naxal leader, Amit Hansda alias Aaptan, carried a reward of Rs 10 lakh, was killed in an encounter with security forces in the Saranda forests of Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district.
According to police, Hansda faced multiple cases linked to violence across the district, and his elimination marks a significant success for ongoing anti-Naxal drives.
He had long been on the radar of security agencies for his role in planned strikes that kept the area on edge.
The encounter unfolded around the Railapara forest and adjoining hill terrain within the Goilkera police station jurisdiction.
A joint team of the CRPF and Jharkhand Police reportedly launched the operation after receiving intelligence inputs that Naxals were planning a major strike.
Facing sustained pressure, the Naxals pulled back further into dense forest cover.
Subsequent searches by the Security Forces led to the recovery of Hansda’s body, as well as weapons and other materials.
Earlier last month, on 13 August, security forces had gunned down another Naxal commander, Arun, in an encounter in the Posta forest of Chaibasa district, with an SLR rifle and ammunition seized at the site.
