Pune: Honeytrapped DRDO Scientist Arrested For Providing Secret Intel To Pakistan

A scientist working for the DRDO has been apprehended by Maharashtra ATS for sharing confidential information with a Pakistani agent.
The scientist was allegedly in touch with an agent of a "Pakistan Intelligence Operative" through WhatsApp and video calls, an ATS official was cited by news agency PTI as saying.
According to the officials, it was a honeytrap case.
The accused reportedly held a senior position in the premier Indian defence research organisation and was arrested on Wednesday (3 May).
"The scientist, by misusing his position, despite knowing that the officials secrets in his possession if obtained by the enemy country can pose a threat to the security of the country, provided the details to the enemy country," an ATS release said.
According to the ATS press note, the accused, Pradeep Kurulkar, has worked on several strategically significant DRDO projects, including missiles, reports The Print.
The Kalachowki unit of the ATS in Mumbai has registered an offence under relevant sections of the Official Secrets Act and is investigating the matter.
