CM Chouhan Plans To Develop Madhya Pradesh Data Analytics Platform To Assess Impact Of Welfare Policies

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday (12 September) expressed the state government's commitment to developing the Madhya Pradesh Data Analytics Platform (MP-DAP) as an aggregator platform to monitor the impact of government policies and assess their effects on people's lives.
In a virtual inauguration ceremony at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis (AIGGPA), Bhopal, he highlighted the significance of data in modern governance and development.
Chouhan announced the consideration of developing MP-DAP using the National Data Analytics Platform (N-DAP), a special initiative of NITI Aayog. N-DAP aims to improve access to and use of government data and hosts datasets from India's extensive statistical infrastructure.
He stated that data, gathered through research, surveys, and scientific methods, forms the bedrock of effective governance and contributes to public welfare. The event also marked the release of the SDG Progress Report-2023 by the State NITI Aayog Madhya Pradesh.
Chouhan stressed that data has become as essential as breathing in the modern era. It plays a crucial role in decision-making, policy formulation, and the successful implementation of schemes like Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
He informed that the availability of reliable and systematic data has enabled the government to transfer funds directly to the accounts of 1.3 crore beneficiaries in the state.
Chouhan highlighted the state's efforts to enhance its data collection and analysis capabilities, ensuring data reliability. Initiatives included the reorientation of the State Policy Commission, the establishment of the Statistical Commission, data-based Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), child budgeting, and gender budgeting.
The event marked the inauguration of the Evaluation and Impact Assessment Centre at AIGGPA, which will assess the effects of government schemes and projects, providing evidence-based insights for policy improvements.
The workshop emphasized the importance of child and gender-sensitive budgeting for holistic development. Madhya Pradesh adopted outcome-oriented child budgeting in 2022.
Chouhan congratulated partner organizations, including UNICEF, United Nations Representatives, ADB, AIGGPA, and State Policy Commission, for their contributions to evidence-based social and economic development.
The conference and workshop, held from 11 to 13 September, saw the participation of numerous economists, researchers, and representatives of development-related organizations. It aimed to strengthen the state's data delivery system and promote data-driven good governance.
In conclusion, the event showcased Madhya Pradesh's commitment to leveraging data for effective governance, policy improvement, and the betterment of its citizens' lives.
