Haryana Govt Allocates Land For CRPF's Anti-Riot Unit RAF In Violence-Hit Nuh After Five Years Of Centre's Approval

After nearly five years since the Centre approved the establishment of a new battalion of the CRPF's anti-riot unit Rapid Action Force (RAF) in Nuh, the Haryana government has finally sanctioned land for the purpose.
The plot, spanning approximately 50 acres in Indri village of Nuh, was earmarked earlier, but the final declaration for its use by the force was pending for over a year.
According to official sources, the sanction to hand over the land to the RAF was granted earlier this week. The process to take over the land will happen soon, followed by a foundation stone laying ceremony by a dignitary.
However, the construction of office, housing infrastructure, and other amenities for the battalion will take a few more years, the sources added.
The Union government had announced in 2018 the formation of five more battalions of the RAF, with one of them being based in Nuh.
The RAF, with these additional units, will comprise a total of 15 battalions. The existing 10 battalions are stationed in various locations across the country.
In light of the recent communal clashes in Nuh, the Haryana government requested additional paramilitary forces, and the Centre has deployed twenty companies, including a dozen from the RAF, in Nuh and neighboring districts.
The RAF, a part of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), is equipped with advanced weaponry and non-lethal tools to manage security and law enforcement during protests or riot-like situations. The force was fully operationalized in October 1992.
