After receiving medical clearance, all 41 workers rescued from the Silkyara tunnel collapse in Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi, on 28 November are deemed fit for discharge, according to Dr Narendra Kumar of AIIMS Rishikesh, as reported by Hindustan Times.

The workers, hailing from seven different states, predominantly Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, are expected to be discharged soon, with workers from Jharkhand and Odisha possibly leaving on the same day.

Dr Ravikant, briefing on their health, stated that thorough examinations, including blood tests, X-rays, and ECG reports, revealed normalcy.

Despite their physical and clinical stability, workers are advised to undergo a check-up after two weeks due to potential acclimatisation needs following their 17-day ordeal in the tunnel.

The Jharkhand government plans to airlift the workers, with 15 individuals heading to Delhi and then Ranchi for further medical attention.

The collapsed tunnel is part of the Char Dham highway project, a significant government initiative to connect four pilgrimage sites. Authorities have yet to disclose the cause of the collapse.
