Sachin Pilot: Moving To Congress' Central Leadership Or To Be Elevated In Rajasthan?

The question of Rajasthan former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot's position in the Congress seems to be circulating within the party ever since news broke about him potentially joining the party president Mallikarjun Kharge's team.

According to sources within the Congress, Pilot is expected to join the Congress Working Committee as a general secretary soon, thereby leading the party's top team.

Another group within the party is confident that Pilot will be given a respectable role and his position in Rajasthan will be elevated.

Interestingly, Pilot has been present in Jaipur for the past few days and actively participating in the party's meetings and protests, which he had been avoiding for the past few months.

Recently, he was seen at a protest against the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi as an MP. He also attended the PCC where he addressed block presidents and encouraged them to work hard in the field.

Speaking with IANS, a party leader remarked, "If you observe his body language, he appears confident." This suggests that he has received some assurance regarding his future role. Otherwise, why would he be so accommodating after fighting for his demands over the past four and a half years, the leader wondered.

Since his meeting with the party high command in Delhi, Pilot seems to have transformed. While openly praising Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, he has also expressed his willingness to accept any role offered by the party.

In 2020, he had rebelliously opposed the state leadership, but it proved futile.

Furthermore, Pilot has another reason to be pleased. He is happy that his demands have been acknowledged by the party leadership, and the state government has announced the introduction of a stringent law against paper leaks.

CM Ashok Gehlot has proposed a law suggesting a life sentence for those accused of leaking papers. Pilot had organized a march from Ajmer to Jaipur to highlight his demands, including strict action against paper leak culprits.

There are now queries about why Pilot has accepted the final suggestion of the central leadership and announced his readiness to accept any role offered to him.

Sources have confirmed that Pilot also met with state in-charge Sukhjnder Singh Randhawa and three observers who visited his house on Friday.

Party workers speculate that something is brewing, given the visits from these senior leaders.

Some of Pilot's followers were recently excluded from the recently announced Congress Working Committee, but party leaders have indicated that they may be reinstated.

Meanwhile, there is discussion surrounding the activity of senior leader Sonia Gandhi. Sonia will be in Bengaluru where she will meet with opposition leaders.

This raises the question of whether there will be any changes following this meeting, which has been a topic of conversation among party workers.

The party high command has already announced that the party will go to the assembly polls without a CM face. This is another victory for the Pilot camp since the CM is usually the face of the party.

If the party declares that they will participate in the elections without a face, it raises several questions, as per another party leader's statement.

All attention is now focused on the role that Pilot will assume. Previously, he held the position of PCC chief and other portfolios in Gehlot cabinet. However, he openly rebelled against the state leadership.

Even after the rebellion, he was offered positions in Delhi within the central team, but sources suggest that he rejected all those offers and insisted on staying in Rajasthan.

The Gehlot camp seems uninterested in granting him any role. However, the fight is centered around the eastern Rajasthan seats where the Gujjars hold significant influence.

The BJP central leadership is targeting these seats, and senior party leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and JP Nadda, have already been touring these areas.

The battle is on, and political experts assert that we must wait and observe how the Congress strategizes for these seats.
