Annamalai (L); RS Bharathi (R)
Continuing his strong criticism of senior Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader RS Bharathi's "Nagaland people eat dogs" remark while criticising Governor RN Ravi, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president K Annamalai in a statement issued today (6 November) stated that the Tamil Nadu unit of the BJP is ready to sponsor a 50-member delegation of the DMK to tour visit the northern and north-eastern parts of the country to educate them.
The statement said, "It amuses us time and again that the DMK, a party boasting of inclusivity and social justice over the last 70 years, does exactly the opposite with every given opportunity, and it has failed miserably to broaden its vision beyond Gummidipoondi to witness India's Growth Story.
"It has been an agenda of the DMK to mislead the people of Tamil Nadu by colouring our brothers & sisters from the North as illiterates and less competent when compared to Tamil Nadu. The never-ending hate of DMK has been countered effectively in this new age of Social Media.
"While DMK claims to be champions of self-respect, their party leaders have time and again proved how miserable they are. Former Rajya Sabha MP & DMK leader Thiru RS Bharathy has reduced the pride of the Nagas to Dog eaters. In the past, DMK leaders such as Thiru Ponmudi Thiru Dayanidhi Maran and others have constantly been disparaging our North Indian brothers and sisters as pani puri sellers, toilet constructors and so on.
"Any rational person would acknowledge that the lives of our brothers and sisters in Northern India are not lesser than those of the people of Tamil Nadu. We can't expect this rational thinking from people in the Arivalayam, though.
"It becomes the duty of any Indian citizen with self-respect to educate these uninformed DMK leaders who see places beyond Gummudipoondi with a myopic eye. Hence, on behalf of BJP Tamil Nadu, we propose to sponsor 50 train tickets to a selected delegation from the DMK who can travel to various parts of North & North Eastern India to get a real-time account of their growth trajectory.
"We are sure that this delegation of DMK will come back and report that the derogatory stereotypes they have propagated to date are a matter of fiction, just like the Dravidian ideology propagated by Robert Caldwell."
