Annamalai has asked Dairy Minister Mano Thangaraj to prove his allegations

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president K Annamalai today (24 November) asked Dairy minister Mano Thangaraj to prove the allegation that he is working against the Tamil Nadu government-run Aavin milk and favouring milk companies based in north India within 48 hours or resign from his post.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, "Thiru @Manothangaraj, In today’s press address, you alleged that I had taken a bribe to work against our State-run Aavin & to favour North Indian Milk Manufacturers.

"In the next 48 hours, using the state police department under the Corrupt DMK government’s disposal, I urge you to prove your allegation by releasing the evidence in the public domain.

"Failing which, you should apologise for this spreading misinformation & resign as Milk & Dairy Development Minister. Your continuation as a Minister is a curse to Aavin & the people of Tamil Nadu."

Speaking to reporters, Thangaraj had said that two politicians, i.e., Naam Tamilar Katchi's (NTK) Seeman and Annamalai were spreading wrong information about Aavin milk.

Regarding the test report on the fat content of full cream milk shared by Annamalai, he said that there was no truth to it. The report stated that the sample provided had 4.79 per cent fat content instead of the 6 per cent stipulated for full cream milk supplied by Aavin.

Defending the decision to discontinue the Green Magic packet, which contained 4.5 per cent fat content, he said that the natural fat content in milk produced by cows in the state was around 3 per cent and so to achieve the 4.5 per cent level, 1 per cent of fat had to be added. He said that this was not considered necessary and the advice of doctors was taken for this decision.

Further, he added that those who wanted milk with higher fat content could purchase full cream milk, which is available in orange-coloured packets.
