Indore will soon be India's first city to have a Digital Addressing System.

Indore Smart City Development Limited (ISCDL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a city-based start-up to launch a mobile application for allotting a unique digital doorstep number for all property free of charge.

The mobile application 'Pataa' aims to simplify navigation by converting long addresses into digital codes without charging customers fees, explains Rishav Gupta, CEO of Smart City, reports Economic Times.

One can enter the whole address, images of the property, landmarks, and other information on this app.

A user may now download the app and register with their name, and the same would be published as an online link to let others identify the person's exact position, added Gupta.

Pataa Navigation has collaborated with ISRO and created a patented advanced technology to design a Digital Addressing System for the nation, according to Rishav Gupta.

The mobile application 'Pataa' will allow people to have digital addresses based on satellite images. The collaboration with ISRO is for the services of ISRO portals such as Bhuvan, VEDAS, and MOSDAC.

Gupta stated that the programme lets users generate a code for as small as 3x3 square metres of their doorway or business for maximum effectiveness.

Officials said that this service would help police and fire departments locate the proper location, which is essential in rural and distant places where people dwell in unspecified areas.

The MoU also aims to use cutting-edge technologies and foster a start-up culture in Indore, says Gupta.

The start-up intends to integrate and make this application available for drone deliveries in Indore.

According to Pratibha Pal, executive director and commissioner of Smart City, Indore will soon become the first city in India to have a digital addressing system, a very significant milestone for Smart City.

In 2019, Indore Smart City announced that residential and commercial premises in Indore Smart City would be equipped with digital door numbers. The project, however, never really gained traction.
