Ahead Of G-20 Summit, Security Agencies Turn Delhi To A Fortress; A Look At Elaborate Security Measures Implemented To Avert Incidents

India, as the current G-20 President, is preparing to host the G-20 Summit at the Pragati Maidan on 9 and 10 September.
To ensure the safety of this high-profile event, security agencies have converted Delhi and its surrounding areas to a highly secure fortress.
Various security measures have been implemented, including anti-drone systems and bulletproof limousines, to make sure that the G-20 summit goes smoothly, without any hiccups.
According to Reuters, over 130,000 security personnel have been deployed in Delhi to host the G-20 summit on 9 and 10 September.
The security presence will consist of approximately 45,000 Delhi Police and central forces personnel, all dressed in formal blue attire instead of the usual khaki. Among these personnel are commandos who will serve as personal security officers, responsible for safeguarding the high-profile dignitaries attending the summit.
The IAF has established a specialized Operations Direction Centre (ODC) to coordinate arrangements with relevant security agencies, reported PTI.
According to an IAF official speaking to PTI, extensive measures are being taken to ensure comprehensive security for the G20 Summit. Assets are being deployed to address various threats, ranging from slow-moving targets to high-speed ones.
To counter aerial threats, the Indian military, along with the air force, Delhi police, and paramilitary forces, will deploy anti-drone systems. Additionally, 400 firefighters will be on standby.
In preparation for the summit, the Indian government has leased 20 bulletproof limousines at a cost of approximately Rs 18 crore for the transportation of world leaders.
Security control rooms are being established at Pragati Maidan and special arrangements are being made at prominent hotels such as ITC Maurya, which will accommodate US President Joe Biden during his visit.
In preparation for the G20, the Delhi Police conducted a comprehensive dress rehearsal on Sunday. To assist commuters traveling to and from airports, railway stations, and bus terminals, a dedicated G-20 virtual help desk has been set up to provide route suggestions.
The upcoming G20 Summit, scheduled to take place at Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan on 9 and 10 September, will witness the deployment of 1,500 Delhi Police personnel outside the venue.
According to Delhi Special Commissioner of Police Madhup Tiwari, the staff assigned to the G20 Summit have undergone meticulous training and have been extensively briefed on their duties. Continuous rehearsals are being conducted to ensure their preparedness.
