Amid the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas after the deadly terror attack by the Palestinian terror organisation, an Israeli diplomat in China was stabbed on Friday in a suspected terrorist attack, i24 News reported.

The diplomat, who worked in Israel's embassy in Beijing, was attacked in an area not close to the embassy.

According to the reports, Israel's Foreign Ministry confirmed the attack, stating that the the diplomat was taken to a hospital for treatment and is in stable condition.

A motive for the attack, which did not occur at the embassy, is being probed, the ministry reported said.

Israel has already warned its citizens and diplomats to remain vigilant as they may be attacked as a repercussion of the war against Hamas.

Today being the day for Friday prayers, the threat preception was high.

The attack on Israeli diplomat comes as Hamas had called for a "day of rage" on Friday (13 October).

"Against the background of the Swords of Iron war, the Hamas leadership issued a call to all their supporters in the world to hold a 'Day of Rage' this coming Friday (October 13), including a call to go out and harm Israelis and Jews. From this it is likely that there will be protest events in various countries around the world, which may develop into violent events," the Israeli National Security Council and Foreign Ministry said in a joint statement on Thursday.

On Tuesday, former Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal called for Muslims and supporters around the world to "mobilize for jihad" and to gather around the world on Friday, stating "when the world sees that the nation has triumphed to Al-Aqsa, and the convoys of fighters have begun to go to shed their blood for the sake of Palestine, the scene will change."

"I say very clearly that this is the moment for the nation to engage in the battle and for us to fight together," said Meshaal.
