Videograb of India EAM S Jaishankar's 'Made in India' train ride in Mozambique
During his visit to Mozambique, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar rode a 'Made in India' train.
"Took a ride in a 'Made in India' train from Maputo to Machava with Mozambican Transport Minister Mateus Magala," he said in a tweet, which accompanies a video of their interaction on wheels.
He also shared a video clip on Twitter of his "novel experience" of a press conference in a moving train.
Jaishankar arrived in Mozambique's capital for a three-day visit on Thursday (13 April) — marking the first-ever visit by an external affairs minister of India to the country — with the goal of enhancing bilateral relations.
He had a "great green transport conversation" with the Mozambican Transport Minister discussing India's partnership in expanding train networks, electric mobility, and waterway connectivity.
In Uganda, Jaishankar discussed potential cooperation in trade, infrastructure, energy, and defence with President Yoweri Museveni, among other top leaders.
He then came to Maputo.
He offered his prayers at the Shree Vishvambhar Mahadev Mandir in Maputo and interacted with the Indian community there.
Next morning, on 14 April, he paid homage to the leaders of Mozambique’s freedom struggle at the Heroes Square.
"Remembering them brings the Global South together," he tweeted.
Earlier, at the High Commissioner's reception in Maputo, Jaishankar had tweeted, "Highlighted that India today does not speak only for itself, but for the Global South."
