Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest automaker, on Thursday (12 January) launched its much-awaited off-roader SUV in India.
The carmaker’s five-door Jimny, which was unveiled globally on the second day of the Auto Expo 2023 in Greater Noida, will go on sale by mid-2023.
Maruti Suzuki also revealed that it will offer Jimny sports utility vehicle (SUV) in two variants – Alpha and Zeta.
According to the company, the new Jimny will be manufactured at the company’s Gurugram plant and will also be exported to overseas markets.
The SUV will come loaded with safety features including six-airbags, brake (LSD) Limited Slip Differential, ESP with hill hold assist, hill decent control, rear-view camera, and ABS with EBD.
The Jimny will be powered by Maruti's K-series 1.5-litre engine with Idle start stop technology, and will be available in seven colour options including 5 monotone shades and 2 dual-tone options.
The off-road SUV is likely to be priced around Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom) and will go up against the likes of Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha in the country, reports CNBC-TV18.
Apart from Jimny, the company also launched another SUV, called Fronx, in India at the event.
