In a unique effort to connect Hindu families across the globe on the occasion of Dussehra, the Ekal Abhiyan is organising a session of the reciting of the Sundar Kand.
The Shri Hari Satsang Samiti, a cultural facet of the Ekal Abhiyan that works towards the propagation of the katha -- the telling and retelling of the tales of Ram, Shiv, Krishna and the Hari katha, is leading this initiative towards cultural awakening of children.
With the worldwide reciting of the Sundar Kand, their aim is to inspire younger generations to participate in the value based and meaningful occasion that celebrates Ram, Ramayana and Hanuman.
Working to take the kathas, bhajans (devotional songs), and the Ramayana to villages in India, the Shri Hari Satsang Samiti trains kathavachaks -- the retellers -- volunteers from the vanvasi and adivasi communities living and serving to propagate the values of the Sanatan Dharm. They are reciting the Sundar Kand with the online platforms from Ranchi in Jharkhand.
The Sundar Kand -- the fifth book in Valmiki Ramayana, sees Hanuman emerge in the foreground as the greatest of Rambhakts. The celebration of the Sundar Kand world wide by the Ekal Abhiyan comes in the year when Ayodhya has witnessed the bhoomi pujan at Sri Ram Mandir.
The moment and timing has huge civilisational value if one keeps the large Hindu family living in and outside Bharat.
More than 25 lakh families are participating in the session from their homes between 6 am to 10 pm on Dussehra, today (25 October). They are connected with the main programme taking place in Ranchi via Facebook, Youtube. Reportedly, efforts are being made to make the event enter the Guinness World Records.
The telecast will reach people in the southern states as well. In Northeast, the reciting of Harinam and "Hare Krishna Hare Ram" will be shown via the online platforms.
Individuals and families associated with the Ekal Abhiyan and others living in England, New Zealand, Canada, Hong Kong, Libya, the USA, and other countries have registered themselves for the worldwide Sundar Kand paath. This is the first such paath session being organised on a large scale by the Ekal Abhiyan and the Sri Hari Satsang Samiti.
