In a tragic incident, five Indian Army soldiers have died after their truck caught fire when moving from Bhimber Gali to Sangiot district in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Public Relations Officer (Defence), Jammu region, said "today, at about 1500 hours, one vehicle of Indian army, while moving from Bhimber Gali to Sangiot in district Poonch (J&K), caught fire".
"In this tragic incident five soldiers of the Indian Army have lost their lives," he said. He added that an investigation is on and details are being discovered about the incident.
An ET report indicate the possible involvement of sticky bomb or ambush, but the officials have not confirmed this. The location of the incident is almost 90 kilometres away from Poonch district.
Charred soldier bodies were seen near the blazing truck. The number of soldiers inside during the fire is unknown but the same report suggests that atleast five Army soldiers have died.
The army and police cordoned the area and halted highway traffic.
