According to officials from Maharashtra Metro Railway Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro), the metro stretches from Garware College to Ruby Hall Clinic on Corridor-1 and Civil Court to Phugewadi on Corridor-2 will be operational for passenger service by the end of July.
Officials have stated that a final certificate from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Security (CMRS) is expected in the second week of July. The CMRS has already conducted three inspections and the final visit is scheduled for next week.
Once Maha-Metro receives the final certificate from CMRS, they will inform the state government, which will then make the final decision to start passenger services on the two stretches.
In addition, Maha-Metro has plans to conduct trials on the Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi stretch and hopes to start passenger service in September.
The underground stretch from Shivajinagar to Swargate is being commissioned as the Civil Court and Shivajinagar underground stations are now ready.
In a review meeting held in April, guardian minister Chandrakant Patil set a deadline for Maha-Metro to complete all works by April-end. However, Maha-Metro has now revised its plan and aims to complete all work by December-end.
Maha-Metro has recently relocated its office to the civil court station. In a recently issued press statement, Maha-Metro announced that its office, previously situated on Ghole Road and Koregaon Park, has been shifted to the civil court junction.
The stations on Corridor-1 includes Dapodi, Bopodi, Khadki, Range Hills, Shivajinagar, and Civil Court. However, it was stated that Khadki and Range Hills may not be ready in the ongoing phase.
Further, the stations on Corridor-2 are Chhatrapati Sambhaji Garden, Deccan Gymkhana, PMC, Civil Court, RTO, and Pune railway station.
