3M To Go In Line PM’s ‘Beti Padhao’ Initiative: Partners With Nanhi Kali To Support Education of 2,000 Girls

Nanhi Kali has partnered with 3M India to support the education of 2,000 underprivileged children from Ambegaon, Maharashtra. A project run by K. C. Mahindra Education Trust and Naandi Foundation, Nanhi Kali has been supporting the education of underprivileged girl children for over a decade with academic and material supports.
3M has started the partnership by providing stationary from its Post-it products, as reported by Times of India, as it believes that it can shape the destiny of girl children.
Debarati Sen, Managing director 3M India, points at how education made a greatly favourable influence in her own family at a level and the society and the economy at large. She reiterates how the 3M India team are passionate about the fruitful partnership. “Being a science and innovation company, 3M is committed to increase student achievements in STEM curriculum and promote equity by driving access to quality, holistic education for all,” she adds.

Nanhi Kali conducted a TAG survey which revealed that 70 per cent of girls aspire to pursue higher studies and 74.3 per cent want to work for specific careers.
Three out of four girls looked forward to earning and supporting their families and did not want to be married before 21, said Sheetal Mehta, executive director of KC Mahindra. She added that there had been a rise in enrolment of girls at primary and secondary schools according to MHRD.
