Thew Uttar Pradesh (UP) Government led by Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath has successfully provided 51 lakh jobs under the MGNREGA since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out and is set to top up the figure by another 10 lakh by next week, reports Livemint.
The development was made public by UP Government's Media Advisor Mrityunjay Kumar after the Principal Secretary had shared the same with CM Adityanath during a high-level review meeting.
It should be noted that the achievement comes after in an earlier meeting, CM Adityanath had instructed the officials to link women with the Rural Livelihood Mission and to provide employment opportunities to them. He had then noted that women could be engaged in gainful employment like sewing and making 'murabba and papad' etc.
CM Adityanath had also announced that the State Government would prepare an action plan to provide social and economic security to the workers. To achieve the same, the Government has completed the skill mapping of labourers and directions have been issued for officials to issue ration cards to the workers.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
